- This version of POP3Client is somewhat of a departure from previous
- versions, and is more like the program I had in mind when I set out.
- There are still a few things missing (configurable locations for the
- windows being one of the main ones, and 'rules' being one of the others)
-
- It does -seem- to work, I've been using this version fairly happily
- (well, entirely happily) for the last month or so, but I feel it only
- fair to warn that I've not asked it to do anything strange, as users
- tend to do :)
- I'll fix any and all problems that get reported that I can, but please
- don't abuse me if it helps the system eat your mail :}
-
-
- There are two main reasons I wrote this program. One was as an exercise
- in the use of Acorn's Toolbox system, and the other was 'cause I
- want(ed) a pop mail fetcher that would allow me to set the 'poll-time'
- for individual users. I desired this because I collect email from 6
- mailboxes at present. Some of which I wish to check once every 5 minutes
- or so while online, another I wish to check around once an hour, and the
- last which I am quite happy only to check once a day.
- Having achieved that, the program's grown a few additions along the way,
- the most obvious of which is probably the 'gateway' support which has
- been targeted at the method used by WinGate (a Win 95/NT program).
-
- If it's any use to someone else, cool, if not, that's cool too. If/When
- I manage to get around to finishing it to the 1.00 state I'm intending
- to post it to comp.binaries.acorn and/or to comp.sources.acorn, just so
- sources has something appear on it :) (Having noted that it was
- initially an exercise one is not allowed to expect good or even nice
- internal code :P)
